Oscar open to Chelsea return

Brazilian star Oscar has opened the door for a return to Chelsea, just months after he departed the club to China.

Oscar left Stamford Bridge last January to join Shanghai SIPG in a deal worth around £52m, with the attacking midfielder earning a reported £400,000-a-week.

During an interview with PL Brasil, the 26-year-old admitted he would love to return to the Premier League one day and says Chelsea would be his first choice club.

“Yes, I would go back! I’m still young, I’m 26,” said Oscar.

“Who knows in two, three years to return to the Premier League… I would be very happy. And preferably for Chelsea, who opened the door for me to return.”

Many would agree that the midfielder left Chelsea for China in an attempt to make more money – with him currently being one of the highest paid players in the game. But Oscar has insisted that he made the right decision to leave Chelsea due to being on the fringes of Antonio Conte’s plans, as well has having an exceptional offer from Shanghai.

“The proposal I had and the situation that was happening to me at the club, both played a part,” he added.

“The first eight games I played very well, then I had a League Cup game (against West Ham) where I started on the left and the team lost and changed.”

“Then he (Conte) changed the team’s way of playing in a 3-4-3 and I did not play anymore, I did not have a position to play, because I’m a more offensive midfielder and then changed a lot.”

“So I decided to leave too, but I left the door open.”
